Classic self-driving tours to enjoy the natural beauty of Canada

Jordan Town to Fort Erie, Ontario (Jordan~Fort Erie)

The trip starts from Jordan Town, about 100 kilometres west of Toronto. It is best to avoid the crowded QEW Expressway in the middle and drive along Highway No. 8, passing through vineyards and farms, and enjoying the countryside scenery. Stop at the farmers’ market halfway through, take a walk in the Ball’s Falls Conservation Area, or go horseback riding in Short Hills Provincial Park. After taking a look at the Welland Canal Museum, go to the St. Catharines Elevated Viewing Platform. You can check out the ships of various countries coming and going at Pier 3 of the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Now take Highway 55 to Niagara-on-the-Lake Old Town, and then take Niagara Parkway along the Niagara River. Passing Niagara Falls to Fort Erie, the whole distance is 55 kilometres. Stop midway, take a look at the Fort George and Laura Secord Homestead. It is the former residence of Fort George and Laura Secord Homestead, the British Command in the War of 1812. Visit the historical sites, and learn about the heroic deeds of the Canadian legend Laura Secord who prevented the American attack. For those who like to be adventurous, you can experience the Niagara River rapids or take a sightseeing boat at the bottom of the waterfall.

Banff-Jasper Line (Banff~Jasper)

This trip is one of the most spectacular mountain self-driving sightseeing routes in the world. The whole journey is nearly 290 kilometres. And you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Rocky Mountains along the way, passing through the pine forest, the wilderness and the natural habitat of wild animals. Take a photo at will, just as beautiful as a postcard. From Banff, take the Bow Valley Parkway Highway No. 1A to Lake Louise. Then take the world-famous Icefields Parkway Highway No. 93 and drive to Jasper National Park.

This trip travels along the Continental Divide National Trail (Continental Divide). Along the way, there are scenic trails, turquoise and clear lakes, waterfalls that flow straight down, beautiful hot springs and pristine ice fields. Along the way, be sure to see Johnston Canyon in Banff National Park and experience the heartbeat of Glacier Skywalk. Note that most sections of this line do not have cell phone signal service.

North Cape Coastal Drive, Prince Edward Island

Although Prince Edward Island is small, and there are many beautiful self-driving routes, the most famous of which is the North Point Coastal Highway. The whole distance is 350 kilometres, passing by various seaside fishing villages, small bays and charming red sand beaches. Those who like seafood, freshly caught lobsters, oysters, shellfish and snow crabs, change their tastes. It is recommended not to fly by ferry or plane. It is best to pass the Confederation Bridge, which is nearly 13 kilometres long. It is the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world, from Xinbu Province to Prince Edward Island, and then take Highway 2 north to North Point. This line, along the way, is the world’s most extended natural rock, Gulf of St. Lawrence.

St. Lawrence and Northumberland Strait meet here, and the scenery is breathtaking and charming. There are also the Acadian Museum in Miscouche, and the Canadian Potato Museum in O’Leary (there is a giant potato at the door). Sault Ste. Marie ~ Thunder Bay

Winding along the rough and rugged coastline of Lake Superior, the scenery is beautiful along the way, and it passes through various farms and charming small towns on the way. The road is sparsely busy and not crowded. The whole journey is nearly 700 kilometres, and the self-driving motorcycle tour is also entertaining.

Drive along Highway 17, and you can see many provincial parks along the way. Step on the soft fine sand of Pancake Bay, walk or row a boat in Pukaskwa National Park near Marathon Town. BC Victoria to Port Hardy Line (Victoria ~Port Hardy)

This scenic coastal highway runs from Victoria to Highway 1, then merges into Highway 19, all the way to Port Hardy, the whole distance is nearly 500 kilometres, without stopping for 6 hours. It’s best to stop halfway and take a look at the hometown of Nanaimo, Canada’s famous 3-tier chocolate dessert, and stroll around the family Old Country Market in Coombs Town. The Old Country Market has initially been just a country fruit stall, but it has grown and developed. Now it has become a famous country market with various shops and gourmet restaurants. The biggest attraction is, of course, the goats grazing on the roof. Telegraph Cove, a lakeside eco-tourism town, is also an iconic attraction, worth seeing. Then go on the road, take a whale-watching boat along the way to see whales, take a boat to watch grizzly bear claws catch fish, or row a boat and walk.
