Entry into the US during COVID-19 pandemic

Entry restrictions

Non-U.S. citizens and residents who have visited or transited through one or more of the following countries/regions in the past 14 days are not allowed to enter:

China, India, Iran, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Brazil, South Africa

Entry restriction exemption

– US citizens/legal permanent residents and their spouses
– The parent or legal guardian of a US citizen or lawful permanent resident, provided that the US citizen or lawful permanent resident must be unmarried and under twenty-one (21) years of age
– Brothers and sisters of US citizens or lawful permanent residents, provided that both parties are unmarried and under 21 years of age (21)
– Children, foster children or guardians of US citizens or lawful permanent residents, or prospective adopters seeking to enter the US under the IR-4 or IH-4 visa category
– Foreign government officials from or transiting through the countries as mentioned earlier/regions in the past 14 days, or their immediate family members (visa: A-1, A-2, C-2, C-3, E-1, G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, K-1, K-2, K-3, K-4, NATO-1, NATO-2, NATO-3, NATO-4 or NATO-6)
– Immigrant visa holders (regardless of class)
– US Armed Forces and their spouses and children (if they have been to the countries as mentioned earlier/regions)

The authorities have made special arrangements for passengers from designated countries who travel on student visas.

Quarantine measures

All passengers are required to undergo quarantine assessment upon arrival
Passengers who have been vaccinated no longer need to be quarantined after arriving in Los Angeles. For details, please visit the Los Angeles County website http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/traveladvisory.htm.

Requirements before departure

COVID-19 detection

All passengers two years of age or older travelling to or transiting through the US must present:

1) Negative test certificate for COVID-19, the test sample must be collected three days before the flight departure

or

2) Written or electronic certification documents of recovery from COVID-19 after SARS-CoV-2 infection earlier. The virus test result must be positive. The passenger concerned must also present a letter issued by a licensed healthcare provider or public health official to confirm that the passenger has been allowed to travel.
